Fatemeh Hesam @fateme1375 is a top athlete from Iran, she’s been a medalist 8 times in World, Asian and Universiade events.
She’s been part of the Iran national team for six years. A not easy achievement considering that Iran is a country with great tradition in taekwondo and top world competitors.
It is also the first interview in which we had an interpreter, who is also a taekwondo master Ehsan Davari @davari_ehsan, who has kindly helped us to know better Miss Fatemeh.
Miss Fatemeh started practicing taekwondo very young, at 5 year old. Her father was a football soccer trainer, so he wanted to help his children to pursue their dreams.
In the first academy where she started doing taekwondo, she also practiced karate and other martial arts.
She was a fighter and for her was normal to do sparring not only with girls but also with boys.
But later she found that her passion was poomsae and that’s why at the age of 15 decided to specialize in it.
Now she has a successful taekwondo career and is ambassador of Saffron.
Miss Fatemeh is recently also sharing tutorials on techniques and exercise in poomsae, I recommend you to follow her account to get tips from a top poomsae athlete.
Please enjoy the interview and use the opportunity to learn from Miss Fatemeh Hesam and her world class experience.
The fighting spirit
Hearing Miss Fatemeh talking, you’ll notice that she has the fighting spirit.
One thing that affects many athletes and doesn’t let them perform at their best is stress.
And Miss Fatemeh shared with us one tool she uses to focus on her performance and non on people.
She imagines that when she is competing there is no one else there, but there is something around her in the environment.
And she visualizes that during her performance she is destroying that thing with her power and speed.
Miss Fatemeh considers she performs better at competitions. She feels good with the pressure and mentions that she transforms the pressure atmosphere of competitions into positive energy.
She performs better at competitions than in training, because she has an aggressive personality and she likes to show her abilities and feels good when does it.

First international competition
Miss Fatemeh’s first international competition was the Turkish Open.
And it was a very important competition for her.
Because it was of the camp preparation for the Asian Games, so, to be able to compete as part of the national team in Asian Games, she had to have a good result in the Turkish Open
Fortunately she could achieve two silver medals at this event, in recognized poomsae and in freestyle.
In this competition was one of the top poomsae performers in the world Elif Yilmaz who now is one of her best friends.

Video Review
Poomsae as a World Championships sport is very recent. And the level of competitors is higher every year.
Kyorugi competitions already have video review, and is a system that has helped a lot to minimize the possibility of human mistakes in referees.
Miss Fatemeh, along with many other athletes in the world, suggests that video review is necessary in poomsae competition, freestyle and recognized.
Is the same logic as in sparring and other sports, sometimes everything happens so fast that for certain actions would be really helpful to have support from technology.

The motivation of family
One of Miss Fatemeh’s biggest motivations to perform at her best in competitions is her family.
She is grateful for the efforts and sacrifices that they had made for her and her siblings.
She is a family person, during a certain part of the interview she was with her little brother sitting on her legs and playing around.
Her family of course has had a big role in how she faces competitions and in that fighting spirit that make her a fierceful competitor.
Miss Fatemeh loves competition and shared with us that she wants in the future to continue competing in the U40 category.
I hope you enjoy the interview and please let us know what have you learned from Miss Fatemeh Hesam
